1948 VENTNOR 23′ RARE TWIN ENGINE RUNABOUT

1948 VENTNOR 23′ RARE TWIN ENGINE RUNABOUT   – Here’s your opportunity to own one of the rarest post-war runabouts. Made by the Ventnor Boat company in New Jersey famous for designing some of the fastest race-boats / hydroplanes of the 30’s to the 50’s.  This model was designed to be powered by 2 Gray Marine Flathead 6 cylinder Fireball 160 hp engines with speeds up to 50 mph.  One of only 6 built this is hull #6 thus the last one built.  Originally sent to Lake Minnetonka in Minnesota she was raced on the lake until 1955 when it unfortunately rolled during a race. Salvaged, she was put into storage and basically forgotten until the late 70’s when she was ‘discovered’ by well known classic boat collector Alan Firth from California. He purchased her and had it shipped to his base in California where he initially stored her awaiting it’s turn to be restored. Unfortunately Alan passed away before getting to her restoration. The new owner purchased her from the estate and undertook the restoration including the rebuild of the two original engines. She made her debut at the 2005 Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance Classic Boat Show.

Correct in all aspects – #6 of six built with only 3 known to survive of which only one other has been restored. Comes with a full custom fitted cover and trailer.
